K-12 Tutoring Position

Brief description of duties: Before you graduate, do you want to work with K-12 students and use what you've learned in your teacher education courses? Utilize the pedagogy you've acquired in your college classes by working virtually one-on-one as a Tutor for rural Nebraskan students in grades K–12. Chadron State College will be hiring teacher education candidates who have been admitted to the Teacher Education Program to serve as Tutors. Tutors will provide assistance to K–12 students virtually in the subjects and grade levels that are specified. Tutors are asked to contribute six (6) hours of tutoring availability each week. Tutoring will take place on campus in a designated area of Chadron State College with required equipment (computer, tablet, and headset) supplied. A variety of Tutors will be utilized. Teacher education candidates majoring in all endorsements are welcome to apply, with the understanding that the majority of tutoring is expected to focus upon assisting K-12 students in the areas of English, math, science, and social studies. Paid Tutor training will begin mid-January 2024; selected Tutors will work for the duration of the Spring 2024 semester. Qualifications Must be teacher education candidates who has been (or is able to apply) successfully admitted to Chadron State College’s Teacher Education Program. Must successfully pass a background check. Must possess a positive attitude, be self-motivated, maintain a strong work ethic and confidentiality, and desire to help others become successful. Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at Chadron State College. Must be able to work on campus. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
